Bila
Nathan Glaister
What is Bila?
A tattered hat, an empty costume, a pocket full of dust…
Error enters the service of curiosity as the stage becomes a battlefield of play for this clown.
In this solo creation, the misanthropic and tramp character “Bila” enters into perfect disorder; crashing acrobatics, broken dances and failed puppets are brought to life under the attentive listening and complicity of a lighthearted and playful reality.
The border between the beautiful and the ugly, between the perfect and the imperfect, between the human and inhuman is blurred as a bizarre universe gradually comes into being.
A greeting in reverence to the deepest corners of who we are. What secrets lie under our skin?
With Bila, Nathan Glaister created a wordless experience in which costume, movement and absurd character play take centre stage. He developed the performance during the ECDF START-UP LABO 2024-2025.
