Looking Forward

Monki Business

A futuristic climbing frame seven metres high looms in the middle of the city. Four acrobats climb up, balancing on steel crossbars and swinging from pole to pole. As they search for balance and footing, they loudly express their wildest dreams about the future: from absurd fantasies to hopeful desires.

'Looking Forward' is the latest performance by circus company Monki Business, led by acrobat and creator Benjamin “Monki” Kuitenbrouwer. Together with three other acrobats and passers-by, he explores how, in the midst of an uncertain world, we can still look ahead together. Shouldn't we imagine the future together – if only to learn to look more sharply at the present?

With daring stunts, playful dialogues and a climbing frame, Monki Business creates a performance that combines circus, theatre and social discourse. Vulnerability at great heights goes hand in hand with humour, rebellious optimism and an invitation to dare to dream together.

'Looking Forward' premieres at MAD Festival and can be seen free of charge at Park Spoor Noord.
