Are you a circus artist looking for space and time to refine your creation? Or are you searching for a place to experiment or train? Then you can get to work at one of the MAD locations!

In the fall of 2023, MAD offers its first residency from October 30 to November 5 at Noordpoort. The next residency will take place from April 1 to April 10, 2024, at the Oude Badhuis, with the option of a presentation during the MAD Circus Festival 2024. The deadline for applications is June 30, 2023.

Tailored Residencies

Artists in residence receive an artistic budget and professional support. This support includes not only time and space but also assistance on promotional, production, and technical aspects, helping MAD circus makers advance in their projects.

Residencies are truly tailored to the needs of the artists. Those in the research phase have the time and space to experiment. Artists developing a new project have the opportunity to finish and showcase it at the MAD Festival. Even artists seeking space for technical training or rehearsals can apply for a residency.

Circus of Tomorrow in Today's World

Transdisciplinarity and crossovers with other art forms are particularly interesting motivations for MAD. Openness, connection, and respect are part of MAD's DNA, so they expect the same from their resident artists. Attention to socially relevant themes and awareness of current artistic developments in circus arts are also encouraged. This way, they are building the circus of tomorrow in today's world.
